Description
Sweeny Todd, by Phillip Ginn
It’s the Demon Barber Of Fleet Street himself, Sweeney Todd. I’ve not had a chance to see a theater production of this musical, but I did really like the Tim Burton film version (sacrilege to some die hard Sweeney Todd fans, I know). So, yes, I did have Johnny Depp in mind when I came up with this piece, but I didn’t use his likeness as a reference. It was fun playing with ink and dry brushing the hair.
Done with a Raphael #3 sable brush and Koh-I-Noor black drawing ink on Strathmore 500 2-ply Bristol board.
Inktober was created in 2009 by artist Jake Parker. His goal was to challenge himself to improve his inking skills and work on developing better drawing habits. Since then, many illustrators around the world participate in Inktober, drawing as many ink drawings as they can – the standard being one a day – throughout October, and they share their work via social media.
