The cover illustration and design for Finale, a short comic book story written by Travis Corwin and illustrated by me. Titles and cover design/illustration by me.
Cover based on a concept by Travis. His idea was to marry digital “TV static/VHS” distortion over the background of a dilapidating city to convey faulty technology negatively affecting real life. I had the idea to depict a generalized scene from the beginning of the story so the cover image would lead into the first page of the comic.
Included are the final illustration without titles as well as the original painting without digital effects.
Original painting done with ink, watercolor, and gouache on 11×15 140lb Arches cold press watercolor paper. Digital effects applied in Adobe Photoshop, typography in Adobe Illustrator.
