It’s “Christmas”… it’s okay

To anyone trying to turn Christmas into a P.C. holiday: (If you’re not one of these people and want to skip this, then go read one of my comics. They’re more entertaining) I’m not a Christian. And sure, it’s kinda freaky to see a huge, lit up cross (not a burning cross, mind you) on the side of a rolling hill when driving between Sacramento and the Bay Area at night, but hey… so what? I’m … Read More

Here’s the deal…

My short stories for The Velvet Goat are done. This means I can technically get a move on with the next couple chapters of Max Hades. BUT – we’re in the midst of trying to sell our home, which means keeping it neat and keeping as few things loose in the place as possible. Not to mention the fact that (hopefully) we’ll have people over to look at the ol’ stead. FOR NOW, I’ll be postponing … Read More

Originality

There’s a thread over at the Fanboy Radio Forums regarding the originality of comic book characters, and the beef about how no really “new” characters have been created. I wrote the following post, which I thought was written pretty well and had many good points regarding my thoughts on originality. I posted my writing here in its entirety, no edits of any kind, and therefore it reads just as it does on the Fanboy Radio Forums … Read More

Announcement

Quick site update! It’s been awhile, yes it has. If you’ve visited the site lately (suuuuuuurrrrrrre…) you may have noticed a change in scenery. The design is far from complete, but at least it works and is usable, so any visitors can browse through. The design will be completed soon and an “official” announcement will be made. Check out my two short stories up at The Velvet Goat, an online comic anthology started by Jim Lujan … Read More

Something Positive

Go read Something Positive, by Randy Milholland, right now. In fact, don’t read the new stuff. Visit his archive and start from the beginning. Go. Do it. I’m not kidding. I will hurt you if you don’t get with the reading.

This just don’t seem right…

Louisiana nursing home owners charged with 34 counts of murder Their accomplice? Hurricane Katrina. I’ve not done any further research beyond this article just yet, as far as seeking out every news article I can find on the matter. I won’t reiterate statements made in the article; refer to the source material… it reads like a He Said/She Said situation. Depending on whose side of the fence you want to sit on, this could be negligent … Read More

It’s tentatively scheduled to be at the Southside Coffee Depot, though it’s subject to change since, apparently, Kevin’s quite the rock-god down there and word spread of his immenent coming like mad-cow disease in England. Harry Loves Ginny

Just finished reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Good book. REALLY good book. I liked it a lot. ***************SPOILER BELOW!!!*************** One thing I will say that bugged the crap out of me was the over-used cliche of having the hero dump his girlfriend because his enemies might use her against him. PFT. Noble? Yes. Does it work? Rarely. Sorry… you don’t have to be with someone to care about them. You can dump your girlfriend … Read More

I’m Back!!! Are you?

I’m back from San Diego, where I had quite the time. I met a lot of great people whom I’ve never met before, including Jim Rugg, Dave Crosland, Kazu Kibuishi, Kean Soo, etc. I passed out – and sold! – quite a few comics and brought enough home to sell online. That’s right… I’ll be selling these limited Kinko’s prints online very soon, as soon as I get it all hooked up. Now that I’m back, … Read More

I… HATE… COMPUTERS…

I have been sitting at a computer for, oh, at least 12 out of the 18 hours I’m awake every day for the past couple of weeks. This includes my time spent at the ol’ dayjob, and also the nights I spend scanning, cleaning, and preparing pages for a small print run of Max Hades #1 and #2. Oh, and there’s the weekend, too. It’s a pain in the ass, and once again, I’m cutting it … Read More

BATMAN BEGINS – I wish I was Batman

Batman Begins is simply awesome. It started out as a pretty good movie… and then it became a very good movie. Then it became great. There were some trite moments (along with trite dialogue), but not so much that it detracted from the quality of the film. While there were a few fact-bending moments that irked the fanboy in me, it all made for a great movie. The story stayed true to the character. Christian Bale … Read More

Michael Jackson Innocent!

I’ve just had one of the crappiest Mondays ever. I just spent all morning grumbling, being pissed, and just foaming at the mouth. Then I hear that Michael Jackson’s verdict is to be delivered today, and all I could think was: “My Monday can’t be as bad as Michael Jackson’s.” He was found innocent on all 10 charges. I guess Monday for MJ is looking up.

whew!

WELL… *deep breath* The site is now browsable – is that a word? – now that the main pages and most of the main content is up. There are still some unfinished projects, minor cosmetic changes, and some homepage tidbits that are waiting in the wings, but at least you can check out what the site has to offer, now. Unfortunately, Daley Kwikees is still on hiatus, as preparation for the San Diego Comic Con is … Read More

Site update

It’s coming along, folks. Of course, no one’s reading this because I haven’t promoted the site, really. However, if you are a visitor of this soon-to-be-fine establishment, you’ll have noticed quite a few changes. More pages need to be laid out and built, and there’s a lot of content that still needs to be scanned in and posted (namely, 2 full 22-page comics and a new Jack Nada story! More to come. Once everything is finished, … Read More

(By the way, this movie is … Read More

batman: hush – a quick review

Jeff Loeb’s and Jim Lee’s Batman: Hush – a quick review This letter was posted on www.fanboyradio.com. Unfortunately, the site had hosting problems a couple years later, resulting in tons of missing info, including forum topics. The original post no longer exists. EDIT 6*9*2005: Unfortunately, I do not have the original date this was written; I have not located the original email that I sent to Scott Hinze, host of Fanboy Radio, and the original post … Read More
