Hi. I’m Phillip.
Phillip Ginn is an illustrator and writer from Sacramento, California, currently based in the Bay Area. He has had a wide and varied career in the independent world, working with various writers to produce covers and interiors in addition to his own fan-favorite art and books. Fans from all over are fascinated with his traditionally-created art and his originals hang in the homes of many art lovers and collectors. He developed a love for newspaper strips at an early age, with Charles Schulz’s Peanuts being his first formative influence. Then came Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes, his dad’s old childhood comics, and the 1989 Batman movie along with contemporary comics and manga. Then, narrative and conceptual illustrators and fine artists caught his eye.
Phillip avoids reality by playing pretend with ink, watercolor, gouache, words, and whatever other friends want to play. He puts his imaginative adventures down on actual, real paper with atmosphere, allegory, fantasy, and playfulness. He has collaborated with several creators, providing covers, illustrations, typography, and other creative consultations.
Phillip is also the creator of AllTheRavens.com, a lifestyle brand offering clothing, drinkware, and accessories that pairs illustrations of ravens with different fun personalities.
In another life, Phillip is the owner of PolyOmni Music where he offers original sheet music, currently specializing in the music-and-marching arts. He taught drumlines and drumset for over 18 years, beginning in 1995, and has composed for and sold music to several ensembles across the U.S. and as far as Beijing, China. He has performed in several local ensembles that include the Hei Gu Chinese Percussion ensemble, the Mandarins Entertainment/Sacramento Kings Corp Drumline, and the Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps. He’s also a veteran of a couple Sacramento rock bands.
Phillip would also not hesitate to be a stowaway in the TARDIS. His bags are already packed.
